Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu has advised Stanley Nwabali to use the current transfer window to secure a new club and return to regular first-team football.

Shorunmu believes the Super Eagles shot-stopper possesses the quality to remain Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper but warned that prolonged inactivity could threaten his place in the national team.
«”Stanley Nwabali must return to regular football. His quality is not in doubt, but every goalkeeper needs consistent game time to remain sharp and competitive,” Shorunmu said.»
The former international noted that competition for places in the Super Eagles goalkeeping department has become increasingly intense, making regular club football essential for any player hoping to retain a place in the squad.
He stressed that national team selection should continue to be based on performance and consistency at club level.

Nwabali has established himself as one of Nigeria’s most reliable goalkeepers in recent years, earning widespread praise for his performances for the Super Eagles.
Shorunmu, however, insisted that the 29-year-old must prioritise finding a club where he can play consistently, maintaining that regular football remains crucial to his development and long-term future with the national team.
