Moves being made by some concerned stakeholders to get highly-rated grassroots coach, Osahon Emokpae a job in the amputee football national team have been halted by the dissolution of all boards of para-sports federation’s.

Sports247 gathered that Coach Osahon had been covertly lined up to join the Amputee Eagles’ technical crew led by Victor Wenweh when the team resumes training ahead of their next international assignment and the process was moving on positively.
The process began after a recent shock development in which the resourceful youth developer and immediate past sole-administrator of Badagry Football Association (BDFA) had one of his legs surgically amputated due to an infection that escalated due to diabetes.
Top shots of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) were said to have opened contact with the now past president of Nigeria Amputees Football Federation (NAFF), Chief Paul Obiakor with a view towards getting Emokpae into the national team, in order to keep him gainfully employed during his trying period.
It was also reckoned that the humble coach, who produced current Super Eagles’ striker, Paul Ebere Onuachu at Young Stars FC of Lagos and worked without pay as a voluntary tactician with Nigerian Grassroots Football Federation (NGFF) for ten years, deserved something concrete to lean on.
Sadly, all those efforts and plans came unstuck this past Monday, when the NSC announced that all boards of para-sports federations had been dissolved, in order to pave way for smooth elective processes.
The NSC also disclosed that its dissolution of the boards of all national para-sports federations was with immediate effect, as part of its efforrs at ensuring a transparent, credible and seamless processes for the emergence of new leaders.
The affected boards include Amputee Football Federation, Para Athletics Federation, Para Powerlifting Federation, Para Swimming Federation, Para Soccer Federation and Para Volleyball Federation, which were all inaugurated on July 20, 2022.
A press realesse from the NSC further revealed that the commission’s top officials expressed deep appreciation to all the affected presidents, vice-presidents, board members and various stakeholders for the dedication, service and contributions they gave during their tenures.
The statement added that this forms part of ongoing efforts by the NSC to strengthen structures, promote accountability and ensure that elections of all the para-sports federations are conducted in accordance with fairness, transparency and credibility.
The press release added, “All outgoing board members have been directed to immediately hand over all federation properties, records, documents and official responsibilities to the respective secretaries-general, who shall oversee the administration of the federations pending the conduct of elections and the inauguration of new boards.
“The Commission assured athletes, coaches, technical officials, partners, sponsors and the general sporting public that necessary arrangements have been put in place to guarantee continuity in the operations and activities of the federations throughout this transition period.
“Details regarding the modalities, timelines and procedures for the forthcoming elections will be communicated through the official channels of the National Sports Commission in due course.”
Sports247 gathered further that the NSC added that it remains steadfast in its resolve to promote good governance, institutional excellence, and development in Nigerian sports, while creating an enabling environment for all athletes and administrators to flourish.
It is now left to be seen if the next board of NAFF will still go ahead with the plan of integrating Emokpae into the amputee football national team’s technical crew, in a way similar to what former Stationery Stores FC of Lagos player, Michael Ishiguzo got after losing one of his legs to an injury that refused to heal.
