The organisers of the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championship have released official schedule for the competition.
The championship which will bring together Africa’s finest track and field athletes will hold at at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium from Tuesday, 12 May to Sunday, 17 May.
Men’s decathlon events will open proceedings on day one, with heats in the men’s and women’s 100m , as well as 400m and 400m hurdles also lined up. The mixed 4x400m relay heats will be the last event of the day.
The finals of the men’s, and women’s 100m will headline day two , alongside the women’s hammer throw and the mixed 4x400m relay final.
Day Three is expected to provide more fireworks with finals in the women’s 400m, men’s discus, men’s 800m and women’s long jump among the major attractions.The women’s and men’s 4x100m relay heats will also hold on same day.
Friday, which is day four will feature the women’s 10,000m final, and the highly anticipated 4x100m relay finals.
Day five will feature the grueling 20km race walk events alongside the men’s triple jump final,and semi-finals of the men’s and women’s 200m.
The championships will climax on Sunday, with the men’s and women’s 200m finals, the men’s 5000m final, women’s 4x400m relay final and the men’s 4x400m relay final.
