Fast-rising Nigerian professional wrestler, Isaac Odugbesan (Oba Femi) is facing speculation that his upcoming rematch with Brock Lesnar this Sunday in Italy could be fixed in favour of his maverick opponent, Sports247 reports.
Although Oba Femi enters the roped square in Turin with bragging rights, having silenced Lesnar in their previous encounter at WrestleMania 42, the shock return of the older and more popular grappler has been tagged a ploy to create more hype.
Lesnar had initially declared his retirement from active wrestling following his defeat by ‘The Ruler,’ only for him to suddenly step back into the ring an attack Oba Femi during a promotional appearance by the Nigerian star.
That confrontation set up Sunday’s potentially explosive clash between both wrestlers in Italy, ahead of which Lesnar again attacked Oba Femi last Monday at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Raw, to further heighten their growing rivalry.
However, many fight experts are hinting at a conspiracy theory that WWE is using both wrestlers to rake in more money, as they keep bringing up chaotic scenes between the duo, with hopes of a crunch showdown between them this summer.
For that to happen, though, the theorists reckon that Oba Femi will have to lose to Lesnar on Sunday, such that the urge for revenge would power him a d boost ticket sales for a much-expected third official fight between the duo at this year’s SummerSlam.
A preview by Uncrowned Staff noted in part, “WWE makes the first big stop of its latest European tour this Sunday, May 31, as Clash in Italy touches down at Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy. The show marks WWE’s first premium live event in Italy.
“The wrestling leader isn’t skimping on this debut offering. Sunday’s action features a loaded five-match card, highlighted by four championship tilts plus the super-sized rematch between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar.”
A member of Uncrowned’s Horsemen, Raj Prashad added, “Lesnar getting the win is probably the natural conclusion for this one. There’s a variety of paths that could lead to a trilogy against Femi and his likely actual retirement at SummerSlam in Minnesota. That seems like the actual night he’ll wrap his career.”
Kel Dansby submitted, “The more likely scenario is Lesnar walking away after SummerSlam, especially with the event taking place in Minnesota, where Lesnar’s wrestling legacy began. That feels like a much more fitting final chapter.
“Lesnar getting to even the score against Oba Femi at Clash makes sense. It gives WWE another major attraction heading into SummerSlam. More importantly, it gives Femi another huge stage to continue building himself into the next monster star.”
Sports247 reports further that WWE is holding in Italy for the first time and it’s just the fourth similar event after Clash at The Castle of 2022 and 2024 in Cardiff, Wales and Glasgow, Scotland respectively as well as Clash in Paris, France last August.
