Fortune Football Academy head coach, Onaolapo Michael, has expressed confidence and focus following his team’s impressive qualification for the finals in both the U10 and U13 categories of the Femmco Football Championship.

Speaking with Sports247Naija after the semi-final victories, the coach maintained a calm but determined outlook ahead of the decisive fixtures.
“We will take it as we have taken other games — with full focus and determination,” he stated, emphasizing the team’s consistent approach throughout the competition.
Fortune FA are set to face Young Gunners FA in the U10 final and Sharp Striker FC in the U13 final, setting up two high-profile encounters.
Addressing the challenge ahead, Onaolapo acknowledged the strength of their opponents, particularly Young Gunners’ defensive record. However, he remained unfazed.
“Facing a team that has conceded just one goal, we are not flattered by that. As you said, we are also the highest-scoring side. So it’s a game of the best attacking system against the best defensive side — let’s see how it goes,” he said.
Fortune FA have been one of the most dominant teams in the tournament, with their attacking prowess and fluid style of play standing out. According to the coach, the team’s success is rooted in unity and commitment.
“What has been working for the team is the team spirit and dedication,” he added.
Reflecting on the championship camping program, Onaolapo described the experience as largely positive while noting areas for improvement. “The camp rating is very good, but there are rooms for improvement,” he said, suggesting that further enhancements could elevate the competition.
He also used the opportunity to call on the National Sports Commission to renew its focus on grassroots development. “They should please come back to the grassroots level and invest like the good old days when we had effective programs like school games and community development initiatives,” he urged.
Fortune FA just won the Nathaniel Idowu-Ajegunle U14 Super Four Championship. The finals are scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Nawarudeen Primary School Playing Ground, Olose, Ogun State, where Fortune FA will aim to cap off their remarkable campaign with silverware in both categories.
