Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi played a key role off the bench as Nottingham Forest cruised to a commanding 5–0 victory over Sunderland in Friday night’s Premier League clash.

Introduced in the second half, Awoniyi showed composure and awareness in the final third, unselfishly setting up Elliot Anderson to slot home the fifth goal and cap an emphatic performance.
Forest had already taken firm control of the contest before the break, racing into a four-goal lead in a blistering first-half spell.
An own goal by Trai Hume opened the scoring, before Chris Wood doubled the advantage. Morgan Gibbs-White added a third, while Igor Jesus made it four before halftime.
The dominant display saw Forest score four times within a devastating 20-minute burst, effectively putting the game beyond reach early on.
The result extends Forest’s unbeaten run and significantly strengthens their push for Premier League survival.
They now sit on 39 points from 34 matches, opening up an eight-point cushion above the relegation zone, with Tottenham Hotspur currently among the bottom three.
With Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley already relegated, Forest’s emphatic win could prove decisive in their bid to retain top-flight status.
