Ijaw Academy Girls Receive Commissioner’s Plaudits For Winning National Schools Volleyball Championship

Ijaw National Academy Girls have received plaudits from Bayelsa State commissioner for education, Dr. Gentle Emelah for winning the 2nd Nigerian Schools Volleyball Championship.

Sports247 reports that Ijaw Girls’ team won the competition at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos on Friday, to enact what Dr Emelah described as ‘a mind-blowing achievement.’

The commissioner also hailed the girls for making Ijaw Nation proud, after they defeated the hosts’ team 2-1 in three sets of 25-18, 25-18,15-12 during the final, which Emelah said is a thing of joy for everybody in Bayelsa State.

Emelah stated further in a heartwarming congratulatory message that the girls had achieved a historic feat that is worth celebrating, then thanked them for their determination and display of raw talent.

While noting the team’s rare accomplishment, Emelah also praised the immense contributions of Bayelsa State’s volleyball coaches and the school’s management for inspiring INA’s successful outing at the competition.

Emelah declared, “I want to deeply extend my congratulations to the Ijaw National Academy girls for this milestone they have achieved. It’s a thing of joy and mind-blowing. I feel elated that our students were able to pull this off.

“The government of Bayelsa State is proud of this achievement and we thank you for bringing pride to the Ijaw Nation. Also, I want to appreciate the massive contributions of the school management and coaches for this historic milestone.”

Sports247 gathered that Ijaw National Academy girls also earned a ticket to represent Nigeria at this year’s World Schools Volleyball Championship in Shangluo, China from July 1st to 10th.
