Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has revealed an ambitious personal target for the 2026/27 season, saying he wants to score at least five goals for Nottingham Forest after ending the previous campaign without finding the net.
The Nigeria international has already returned to pre-season training with Forest as preparations intensify ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Notts County.
Despite cementing his place as one of the Premier League’s most consistent full-backs, Aina admitted he was frustrated by his lack of goals last season.
He made 28 appearances across all competitions but failed to score, although he did register an assist in Forest’s 2-1 UEFA Europa League defeat to Fenerbahce.
The former Chelsea academy graduate, who began his career as a winger before transitioning into a defender, believes he can contribute more in the final third this season.
Speaking during a live session on Twitch, Aina joked that he would need spiritual backing to reach his target.
“I need to pray and fast because I didn’t score any goals last season,” Aina said.
“The season before, I think I got three (goal involvements). I need to do some serious prayer and fasting because I need at least five. If I get five, I’ll be content.”
Known for his attacking runs from full-back, Aina remains one of Forest’s most versatile players, capable of playing on either flank as well as at centre-back when required.
With pre-season now underway, the Super Eagles star will be looking to carry his attacking intent into the new campaign as Nottingham Forest prepare for another season of Premier League and European football.
The 2026/27 season presents Aina with another opportunity to add goals to his game while continuing to play a key role in Forest’s ambitions on both domestic and continental fronts.
