Done Deal: Nigerian Youngster Joins French Club Stade Reims

Ligue 2 club Stade de Reims have announced the signing of Nigerian youngster John Otomewo, Completesports.com reports.

Otomewo, who linked up with Reims from Israeli outfit Hapoel Jerusalem penned a contract until 2031.

The defensive midfielder will be able to rely on the presence of fellow Nigerian Hafiz Ibrahim, whose support is expected to ease his integration into the squad and help him settle quickly.

Otomewo Happy To Take Next Step

The 19-year-old expressed his delight after signing his contract.

” I am very happy to be at Stade de Reims,” the defensive midfielder told the club’s official website.

“This will allow me to evolve and progress in the best conditions, but above all I want to help the Club achieve its objectives this season.”

From Abia Comets To France

Otomewo started his career with Nigerian Second Division club Abia Comets FC.

The talented midfielder later joined Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL , side Gombe United, in 2025 where his impressive performances earned him a move to Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem.

He wasted little time making an impact, earning a regular place in the first team, and starting over 90% of his side’s games since joining the club.
