France coach Didier Deschamps has praised Kylian Mbappé for his unwavering self-belief after he scored his eighth goal of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Recall that the Real Madrid star atoned for a missed penalty in the first half as he netted a brilliant goal against the Atlas Lions of Morocco in the quarter-final of the tournament.

A few minutes later, Mbappe provided a beautiful assist for Ousmane Dembélé to score France’s second goal.
Mbappé was taken off with 13 minutes remaining after feeling some “discomfort” in his ankle, but he is not expected to be a doubt for the semi-final.
Reacting to his performance after the game, Deschamps stated that the players never doubted Mbappe despite failing to convert a host of chances in the first half.
“When it’s Kylian, there’s no problem – he never doubts himself, even though he had another chance before scoring,” Deschamps said.
“I think that is three consecutive semi-finals, so that’s already a good thing.

“It seems logical and natural, but you still have to achieve it.
“Obviously, I have great players, otherwise we wouldn’t get there, but it’s good. It was complicated because today, after missing the penalty, and with the chances (we had), we didn’t convert.
“It’s great; we’re where we wanted to be, so we’ll recover well and then we’ll see who our opponent is tomorrow,” Deschamps said.
