Flamingos head coach Bankole Olowookere Busari has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness ahead of Saturday’s crucial FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash against Benin Republic in Ikenne.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Busari said the Nigerian girls have undergone thorough preparations and are determined to maintain their impressive record in the African qualifiers.

“We have prepared very well for this game,” Busari said. “We understand the importance of this qualification campaign and the expectations that come with representing Nigeria. The players are focused, motivated and ready to give their best.”
The coach acknowledged the increasing competitiveness of the African qualifiers, noting that every nation is eager to secure a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
“The qualifiers are no longer easy because every country wants to be at the World Cup. We respect Benin Republic, but our focus is on ensuring that Nigeria controls the game from start to finish.”
Busari also highlighted the tactical work carried out by his coaching crew in the build-up to the encounter, with emphasis on smooth transitions between defence, midfield and attack.
“One of the key areas we have worked on is our transition in play—from defence to midfield and into attack. We have also paid attention to our defensive organisation and attacking efficiency. If we execute our plans well, I believe we will make the difference.”
The Flamingos, one of Africa’s most consistent teams at the U-17 Women’s World Cup, will be aiming to take a strong first-leg advantage before the return fixture in Benin Republic.
Kick-off for the encounter is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, with Nigeria seeking another step towards qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
