Chibuike Nwaiwu’s Summer Transfer From Trabzonspor Scuttled By Turkish Club’s €30m Price

All hope held by Trabzonspor of Turkey defender, Chibuike Nwaiwu for a summer transfer to the English Premier League may have been scuttled all together by his club’s insistence on a €30m price tag for his signature.

Sports247 gathered that Nwaiwu has attracted fervent attention from Fulham and West Ham United, but both London-based EPL clubs appear constrained by Trabzonspor’s insistence on a deal worth €30m and nothing less.

The Turkish Super Lig club’s decision has proven to be twice as stern than expected, following their refusal of an improved offer from Fulham for the vastly-improved centre back, after The Cottagers’ initial €20m offer was rejected.

Though Fulham later tabled a new improved €25m proposal for the Super Eagles’ rookies, who could join fellow-Nigerian stopper, Calvin Bassey in their defence, Trabzonspor are reportedly holding out for around €30m before agreeing to sell the 22-year-old Nwaiwu.

A report by Turkish media outlet, Taka61 added: “Nwaiwu only joined the Turkish club in January from Austrian side, Wolfsberger AC. Despite his short time at the club, he impressed with three goals and one assist in 16 league appearances, while also helping Trabzonspor secure the Turkish Cup.”
