England’s World Cup match against Mexico in round of 16 is set to be brought forward by six hours in a major boost to fans.
Mexican media have claimed that instead of kicking off at 6pm local time, which is 1am in England, the match has been brought forward to midday due to concerns over weather.
While sources close to the England team have told Daily Mail Sport that they are currently unaware of any such time change, news channels in Mexico are reporting that due to risk of storms, the match at the Azteca Stadium has been rearranged.
Mexico’s round of 32 match against Ecuador, which saw the co-host’s opponent disrupted overnight before the match, triggering a ‘ring of steel’ for England in Mexico City, earlier this week was delayed due to rain.
The news comes after the PM announced that pubs will be allowed to stay open until 5am to allow punters to watch the match.
