Nigeria’s D’Tigers ended Guinea’s winning streak, after securing a hard-fought 80-79 triumph to record their victory in Group C, first round at the FIBA World Cup qualifiers on Friday in Luanda.
The victory means D’Tigers qualify for the second round of the World Cup qualifiers alongside Guinea.
The Nigerian men’s team went into the contest on the back of another tensed 84-81 win against Tunisia on Thursday.
Guinea led by six points after the third quarter, but D’Tigers clawed their way back to win by a single point.

Up next for D’Tigers is their final Group C encounter with Rwanda which comes up on Sunday, July 5.
The 12 teams that qualify for the second round will be divided into two groups of six teams.
Each group will be formed from teams that advanced from the four first round groups.
All results from the previous round will be carried over and the two best-placed teams from each group and the best third-placed team will qualify for the 2027 FIBA World Cup in Qatar.
