Flamingos: Akeem Busari Sends Strong Warning Ahead Of Benin Republic Qualifier

Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari has warned his players against complacency ahead of Nigeria’s CAF U-17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic, insisting the team’s focus remains firmly on securing qualification.

Despite Nigeria’s impressive record in women’s youth football and previous successes against Benin Republic, Busari believes his players must approach the encounter with complete concentration and determination.

The Flamingos have established themselves as one of Africa’s strongest youth teams, winning bronze at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and consistently competing among the continent’s elite.

“The job is not done yet. As coaches, it’s our responsibility to keep the players focused and hungry because our target is to qualify,” Busari said.

The experienced coach stressed that reputation alone will not guarantee victory, urging his players to remain disciplined and fully committed throughout the qualification campaign.

Busari explained that the technical crew has continued to emphasize hard work, tactical discipline and the right mentality as Nigeria seeks another appearance at the continental championship.

“There will be no room for complacency. We respect Benin Republic, and our focus is on giving our best to qualify for the Nations Cup,” he added.

The qualification series forms part of Nigeria’s preparations to return to the CAF U-17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, with a place at the tournament also offering the opportunity to compete for qualification to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Busari expressed confidence in his squad but maintained that only total commitment and maximum concentration will help the Flamingos achieve their objective against Benin Republic.
