Nottingham Forest have announced the transfer of England international Elliot Anderson to Manchester City.
The deal makes Anderson the most expensive British player ever, surpassing Declan’s Rice’s £105m move from West Ham to Arsenal in 2023.
According to ESPN the agreement is worth £116 million with no built in add-ons or bonuses.
Anderson passed a medical at England’s World Cup training base in Kansas City and will formally complete his move to City once he returns from the tournament.
“Nottingham Forest can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Manchester City for the transfer of Elliot Anderson,” Forest wrote on their X handle.
“The necessary formalities will be completed in due course, allowing Elliot’s full focus to remain on representing England at the FIFA World Cup.

“The Club will pay tribute to Elliot’s outstanding contribution over the past two seasons at the appropriate time.

Anderson, 23, leaves Forest having made 92 appearances at the City Ground since arriving from Newcastle in 2024.
Anderson first joined Newcastle United at the age of eight having previously been at Wallsend Boys Club and signed his first professional contract with the club in November 2019, signing another long-term deal a year later on his eighteenth birthday.
On 9 January 2021, Anderson made his first-team debut in a 2–0 defeat to Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup. On 18 January, Anderson made his Premier League debut against the same opposition in a 3–0 defeat, as an 87th-minute substitute.
