Former Nigeria international Duke Udi has hailed the outstanding performances of African nations at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, describing the continent’s success as a major milestone for African football.

With nine of Africa’s ten representatives progressing to the knockout stage, Udi believes the tournament has highlighted the remarkable growth and competitiveness of football across the continent.
“Africa’s progress is clear for everyone to see. Having nine teams reach the knockout stage shows how far African football has developed,” Udi said.
The former Super Eagles midfielder singled out Morocco, Senegal and Ivory Coast as countries capable of making Africa proud on the biggest stage, citing the quality and experience of their players.
According to Udi, the increasing number of African footballers competing for top European clubs has played a significant role in raising the standard of national teams.
“Many of our players are competing at the highest level in Europe, and that experience is now translating into better performances for their national teams,” he added.
Udi expressed confidence that Africa’s strong showing at the World Cup would inspire further investment in football development across the continent.
He also urged African football administrators to continue improving grassroots programmes and domestic leagues to ensure the continent builds on its recent success and remains competitive at future global tournaments.
