Deschamps tells Barcola to sort future before World Cup

France boss Didier Deschamps has urged his players to sort out their futures before the World Cup starts, amid tentative speculation linking Bradley Barcola with Arsenal.

Sky Sports Germany understands the 23-year-old could leave Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly keen on his services.

As the rumour mill continues to churn regarding Barcola’s long-term future, the PSG forward has now been told to clarify his situation before representing France at the World Cup, with manager Deschamps keen for his players to avoid distractions in North America.

In quotes carried by French outlet RMC Sport, when asked about the transfer speculation surrounding several players in his France squad, Deschamps said: “Obviously the faster the situation is clarified, the better it will be.

“But it applies to everyone. I tell everyone that once the World Cup has started, there will be no need to think about anything else.”

Mbemba favours move to Arsenal this summer

Arsenal have made an approach to sign highly-rated PSG defender Emmanuel Mbemba on a free transfer this summer, according to BBC Sport.

The 18-year-old has reportedly been offered a new contract by Luis Enrique’s side but is open to joining a leading Premier League club, with Arsenal having made contact with the youth-team player.

And BBC Sport understands Mbemba is favouring a move to Arsenal, who view him as a long-term option at left-back despite having primarily operated as a centre-back in PSG’s youth academy.

Gunners watch on as Real join Fernandes race

Arsenal have suffered a blow in their reported pursuit of Mateus Fernandes as Jose Mourinho has reportedly asked Real Madrid to sign the West Ham United star this summer, according to Spanish publication Diario AS.

The 21-year-old excelled in an otherwise torrid 2025-26 season for the Hammers, who suffered relegation to the Championship after finishing 18th in the Premier League.

And now Fernandes, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, has reportedly been shortlisted by Mourinho ahead of his expected arrival at Real, provided club president Florentino Perez wins Sunday’s elections.

Arsenal receive Tonali boost as Newcastle find replacement

Arsenal have received a boost in their quest to sign Sandro Tonali after learning Newcastle United have identified Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta as a potential replacement, according to The i Paper.

Italy international Tonali is being monitored by the Gunners hierarchy ahead of the summer transfer window opening this month, according to The Times, with a separate report in The Athletic claiming the midfielder is valued at €115m (£100m).

And now The i Paper understands Newcastle are plotting a move for Atta, who reportedly has an asking price of €30m (£26m), in the event that Tonali ends his three-year association with the club this summer.
