France boss Didier Deschamps has urged Michael Olise to sort his future out before the World Cup starts amid talk of a big-money move to Real Madrid.

Olise has become one of the best players in the world since joining Bayern Munich in 2024, with the winger scoring 42 goals in 107 games for Vincent Kompany’s side, who won the Bundesliga and German Cup last season.

Such has been the 24-year-old’s dazzling form in front of goal that he continues to be linked with La Liga giants Real, whose current president Florentino Perez has vowed to make a €150million (£130m) bid for an unnamed player if he wins Sunday’s elections.

Perez, who faces opposition for the presidency from renewable energy entrepreneur Enrique Riquelme, denied Olise was the player he had in mind when making the transfer pledge to voters on Friday.

However, according to both The Telegraph and The Guardian, the 79-year-old does intend to make a club-record offer for Olise, though Bayern chief Uli Hoeness said in March that the forward will not be sold under any circumstance this summer – even if the club receive a €200m (£172m) bid.

As speculation continues to swirl regarding Olise and Real, the former Crystal Palace man has been told to clarify his future before representing France this month, with manager Deschamps keen for his players to avoid distractions in their bid to win a third World Cup.

Deschamps also issued the same message to fellow France stars Mike Maignan, Maxence Lacroix, Adrien Rabiot, Manu Kone and Jean-Philippe Mateta, whose futures are also up in the air ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

In quotes carried by French publication RMC Sport, when asked about the transfer talk surrounding several players in his France squad, Deschamps said: “Obviously the faster the situation is clarified, the better it will be. But it applies to everyone.

“I tell everyone that once the World Cup has started, there will be no need to think about anything else.”

France face Senegal and Norway in eye-catching World Cup group

France – who have reached the last two World Cup finals, winning in 2018 – will take on Northern Ireland in their final warm-up fixture tomorrow before locking horns with Senegal in their tournament opener on Tuesday, 16 June.

Les Bleus will then face Iraq on Monday, 22 June before wrapping up their Group I obligations against Norway four days later.

All eyes will be on Olise in what will be his first World Cup this summer, with the France attacker expected to line up alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Real’s Kylian Mbappe in a star-studded frontline.
