Rave-making 18-year-old winger, Zadok Abu Yohanna’s coach at AIK Stockholm of Sweden, Jose Riveiro has come out with an explanation of the sudden massive summer transfer interest coming the player’s way.

Sports247 reports that Riveiro declared that the rush of interest in Yohanna is due to the lad’s remarkable growth within such a short time of his arrival at the Swedish top-flight club.
Yohanna is now setting the European summer transfer window abuzz, with interest coming his way from Real Madrid of Spain, Borussia Dortmund of Germany and many other top clubs.
Two English Premier League clubs – Newcastle United and Brighton – are also in the race to snatch the Bauchi-born youngster from the grip of Riveiro’s Swedish Allsvenskan outfit, which Yohanna joined only last year.
Dramatically, Yohanna left his family as a teenager and relocated on his own to Kaduna, where he began playing for Ikon Allah Academy, from which he signed to join AIK on June 29th, 2025, and he is now worth £22m in the transfer window.
The left-footed right-side flank winger has also been tracked by two other EPL clubs – Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur – as well as Stade Rennes of France and RB Leipzig of Germany, with interest in his signature escalating since April.
Astonishing scenes erupted back then in a Swedish fixture for his team against Kalmar FF, as 32 scouts turned up to watch Yohanna play, since he had already established himself in Riveiro’s preferred 4-3-3 system.
A report by UK’s Daily Mail adds, “Yohanna was called up to represent Nigeria last month, but AIK blocked him from joining the national camp for the Unity Cup, saying he needed to fully recover from an injury.
“He has only played in seven league games, scoring twice and adding two assists. However, his potential was there for all to see in Swedish Cup games earlier in the year and his talent is such that clubs have already been pressing to sign him.
“Yohanna has drawn attention for his speed and technical ability with Coach Jose Riveiro hailing his ability in one-on-one situations. They are now looking for a Swedish top flight transfer record sale of around £22m for him.”
