Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan has expressed gratitude for another opportunity to represent the country after storming into the final of the women’s 100m hurdles at the African Athletics Championships in Accra.

The world record holder produced a commanding display in the semifinals, clocking a season’s best of 12.82 seconds to qualify as the fastest athlete overall across both heats.
“It’s always an honour to represent Nigeria,” she said.
According to Amusan, wearing the national colours remains a source of pride regardless of the competition.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity,” she implied.
The Nigerian star looked comfortable throughout the race, finishing well ahead of the rest of the field and reaffirming her status as one of the favourites for gold.
“She showed her class again,” many observers noted.

“I want to defend my title,” she added.
