Board member of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Olalekan Soetan, has predicted a highly competitive men’s 400m event for Nigerian athlete Samuel Ogazi ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Speaking on Ogazi’s recent performances, Soetan praised the quarter-miler after he clocked a sub-44 second run in May.
“Samuel Ogazi has shown tremendous progress,” Soetan said.
According to the AFN board member, Ogazi may need to run below 43 seconds if he hopes to secure a medal at the Commonwealth Games.
“A sub-43 second performance could be required for a medal,” he implied.
Soetan, however, warned that competition in the event remains extremely tough due to the quality of athletes from across Africa.
“The competition will be very difficult,” he noted.
The athletics administrator specifically highlighted the strength of runners from Botswana and South Africa in the men’s 400m category.
“Botswanan and South African athletes are also performing very well,” he added.
Despite the challenge ahead, Soetan remains optimistic about Ogazi’s ability and potential moving forward.
“He has the talent to compete at the highest level,” he stressed.
Ogazi continues attracting attention as one of Nigeria’s brightest track prospects ahead of future international competitions.
“His performances have generated excitement within Nigerian athletics,” many sports observers believe.
The AFN remains hopeful that continued improvement and preparation can help Nigerian athletes compete strongly globally.
