Four Nigerian wrestlers will battle for crucial World Championship ranking points at the 2026 World Wrestling 3rd Ranking Series, officially known as the Ulaanbaatar Open, taking place in Mongolia from June 4 to June 7.

The Nigerian contingent, led by coach and Nigeria Wrestling Federation Technical Committee Chairman Akuh Purity, arrived in Ulaanbaatar on Tuesday ahead of the four-day tournament featuring competitors from across the world.
Nigeria’s squad includes Genesis Mercy Miesinnei (50kg), Ogunsanya Christianah Tolulope (53kg), Kolawole Esther Omolayo (62kg), and Ojo Damola Hannah (76kg), all competing in the women’s wrestling category.
The tournament serves as the third of four global ranking series events this year, with athletes targeting valuable seeding points ahead of the World Wrestling Championships.
The women’s wrestling events involving Nigerian athletes will begin on Friday and Saturday.
Miesinnei and Ogunsanya are scheduled to compete on Day Two, June 5, in the 50kg and 53kg categories respectively, while Esther Omolayo and Damola Hannah will take to the mat on Saturday, June 6, in the 62kg and 76kg divisions.

The Ulaanbaatar Open will feature 30 gold medal events across women’s wrestling, freestyle, and Greco-Roman categories, with delegations from countries including the United States, China, India, and Bulgaria expected to compete.
