A much-expected move to Bayern Munich of Germany by Liverpool’s Nigerian-born youngster, Rio Chima Ngumoha may not materialise after all, following updated reports that the English Premier League side have pulled out of the deal.

Sports24 reports that, in contrast with initial information that Ngumoha’s agent reached an agreement with Bayern’s top brass at the end of last week, the latest angle to the saga indicates that Liverpool are not ready to let him go.
This is in contrast with several social media posts that appeared earlier this week, as a cross-section of transfer observers splashed comments about a strong likelihood of Ngumoha joining fellow-Nigerian-born dazzler, Michael Olise at Bayern.
A writer with The Athletic, David Ornstein confirmed that Bayern were trying to sign Ngumoha, who is rated is one of the best young players in the EPL, but equally pointed out that Liverpool have huge expectations from the 17-year-old winger.
Sky Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg revealed that Bayern manager, Vincent Kompany had already spoken with the 17-year-old Ngumoha, who The Bavarians want to sign as back-up to Luis Diaz, but added that the deal collapsed on Thursday.
Although another report indicated that Kompany approved a deal for Ngumoha after personal talks with the youngster, renowned transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano later stated that Liverpool consider the lad ‘untouchable’ and will not sell him this summer.
Romano wrote on X: “Liverpool’s stance on Rio Ngumoha, not just today but for months: untouchable. Seen as a crucial part of the project and no chance for his exit, #LFC view is clear.”
Sports247 gathered further that Liverpool are not ready to let go of Ngumoha, who scored a late winner to cap a brace in a 3-2 victory at Newcastle United on his EPL debut in August 2025, after his first start during a 4-0 win over Accrington in the FA Cup in January.
Ngumoha, who has played through the England age groups and left Chelsea’s academy in September 2024 to join Liverpool, was aged 16 years and 135 days old at the time and became the youngest player to start a match for The Reds.
