Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirović has credited the inclusion of Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi as a key factor behind the club’s qualification for the playoff final.

Hull secured a 2-0 victory over Millwall in the second leg after the first encounter ended goalless, moving within one win of Premier League promotion.
“Ajayi gave us balance,” Jakirović said.
According to the Hull manager, adding an extra centre-back was a tactical adjustment he considered necessary after the first leg.
“We needed more stability,” he implied.
Jakirović explained that Ajayi’s presence improved the team’s defensive structure while also helping the side manage transitions more effectively.
“He brought composure,” he noted.
The coach praised the Nigerian defender’s experience and understanding of the game, particularly in high-pressure situations.
“He understands these moments,” he added.
For Hull City, the tactical switch paid off perfectly as the team controlled key periods of the match and secured the result they needed.
“It worked exactly how we planned,” Jakirović stressed.
