Former Nigeria international Segun Odegbami has insisted that his criticism of the Nigeria Football Federation is not driven by personal motives, but by a desire to reform the governance structure of Nigerian football.
Speaking on the ongoing tensions surrounding football administration in the country, Odegbami stressed that his objective is to see meaningful changes implemented for the growth of the game.

“It’s not personal,” he said.
According to the former Super Eagles star, Nigerian football needs a simpler and more transparent governance structure.
“We need proper reforms,” he implied.
Odegbami proposed a system where the executive committee of the NFF is elected strictly by registered members of the federation on an equal representation basis.
“It should be democratic,” he noted.
He also called for the planned election venue in Lafia to be moved back to the federation’s headquarters, arguing that doing so would reduce external influence.
“We must avoid interference,” he added.
For Odegbami, the current structure leaves too much room for political manipulation and weak accountability.
“The system needs fixing,” he stressed.
He emphasized that stakeholders must prioritize the future of Nigerian football over personal interests.
“It’s about the game,” he said.
His comments add to growing calls for reform within the country’s football administration.
As debates continue ahead of upcoming elections, governance remains a major talking point.
