Former Nigeria youth international Festus Odini has expressed confidence in the appointment of Abdul Maikaba as the new Flying Eagles head coach.
Reacting to the decision by the Nigeria Football Federation, Odini described Maikaba as a coach with proven quality and experience in youth development.

“He has the pedigree,” he said.
According to the former player, Maikaba’s history of working with and improving young footballers makes him well suited for the role.

Odini pointed out that the coach’s previous success with clubs such as Akwa United and Plateau United demonstrates his ability to manage pressure and build competitive teams.
“He has experience,” he noted.
For the former youth international, the Flying Eagles require a coach who can combine discipline, talent identification, and tactical understanding.
“He fits the profile,” he added.
Odini also emphasized the importance of giving the new manager adequate support to succeed.
“He needs backing,” he stressed.
Nigeria’s youth teams have faced increasing scrutiny after recent disappointments, placing extra attention on the new appointment.
“We need improvement,” he said.
