Media Coordinator of Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, Dorcas Koiki, has revealed that the team is intensifying preparations ahead of their crucial FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash against Guinea.
Providing an update on the squad’s progress, Koiki confirmed that the players have been working hard to adapt to the philosophy of the new coaching setup.
“The team is working intensely,” she said.
According to her, training sessions have been focused on building understanding, improving tactical discipline, and ensuring that the players fully buy into the manager’s approach.
“They are adapting well,” she implied.
The Flamingos are set to face Guinea over two legs, with the first match scheduled to take place between May 22 and 24, where Guinea will host.
The return leg is fixed for May 30 in Nigeria — a fixture that could prove decisive.
“We are focused on both games,” Koiki noted.
She emphasized that while the team is preparing thoroughly, they are also aware of the challenge posed by their West African opponents.
“It won’t be easy,” she added.
For the Flamingos, the objective is clear, secure qualification for the next round and continue their journey toward the World Cup.
“We want to progress,” she stressed.
Koiki also highlighted the importance of home support in the second leg, expressing confidence that Nigerian fans will play a key role.
