The 2026-27 season is fast approaching for clubs in Europe’s top five leagues and, as a result, a host of major transfers are expected to be formally announced shortly.
Several blockbuster deals have already been completed so far this summer, including Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City and Morgan Rogers’ switch to Chelsea, however a plethora of high-profile transfers are still expected to be finalised before Deadline Day.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through five transfers that are set to be completed before the end of this week.
Pep Chavarria to Chelsea
After weeks of negotiations, Chelsea have struck a full agreement to sign Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria for a fee worth around €25 million.
The Spaniard is set to be formally unveiled shortly, following Chelsea’s return from their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, and he will then begin training with his new team-mates ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Chavarria is expected to compete with Jorrel Hato for a starting berth at left-back this term, while he will also be an option at wing-back if Xabi Alonso opts to deploy a back-three system.
Ronald Araujo to Liverpool
Liverpool have finalised a deal to sign Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo on loan for the 2026-27 season, with an option-to-buy clause included in the agreement.
The Uruguay international will provide much-needed cover at centre-back and right-back at Anfield, amid injury concerns over Joe Gomez, Jeremy Jacquet, Giovanni Leoni, Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley.
Araujo made 38 appearances for Barcelona last season, and the transfer has already been confirmed by former Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez.
Rodri to Barcelona
Real Madrid were previously considered to be the frontrunners to sign Rodri this summer, but Barcelona are now in pole position to secure the Manchester City midfielder ahead of the 2026-27 season.
A transfer fee has not yet been agreed between the two clubs, however Rodri is keen to complete a move to Camp Nou and it’s understood that personal terms have already been finalised.
Barca are closing in on a deal and a fresh bid is set to be lodged shortly as Hansi Flick’s side push to complete the transfer amid Frenkie de Jong’s absence through injury.
Ayyoub Bouaddi to Man City
With Rodri set to join Barcelona, Man City have moved quickly to secure his replacement: Ayyoub Bouaddi.
An agreement on personal terms has been reached with the Morocco starlet, and advanced talks with Lille are set to take place this week, with Man City reportedly ready to pay as much as €130m to sign the teenager.
It was initially reported that Bouaddi may remain at Lille until 2027, but the player wants to join Man City now and this is the plan following news that Rodri is close to becoming a Barcelona player.
Ferran Torres to PSG
Having bolstered their forward line with the additions of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi so far this summer, Barcelona are on the verge of selling Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for €50m.
The Spain forward has just one year remaining on his current contract at Camp Nou, and a move to PSG is close to being agreed, with talks now in the final stages.
Ferran will significantly bolster PSG’s exciting forward line and his exit is likely to trigger Barcelona into action amid their pursuit of Julian Alvarez.
