Newcastle have rebuffed a second approach from Tottenham for Sandro Tonali.
The North London club did not improve their original offer of £75million but asked the Magpies to reconsider. This was swiftly knocked back.
New Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has identified his fellow Italian as his top target this summer. Tonali wants to explore his options and is open to a move to the capital after three seasons on Tyneside.
However, Newcastle’s asking price is closer to £100m and, so far, Tottenham or any other potential suitor have not presented a package they would deem acceptable.

Manchester United have held a long-term interest but are now said to be looking elsewhere, while Manchester City and Arsenal are also monitoring the situation.
Tonali has four years to run on his contract and is already among Newcastle’s highest earners, meaning a deal to get him out of St James’ Park would be expensive.
