Can Chelsea challenge under Xabi Alonso? Breaking down their title and major trophy odds with Sky Bet

Chelsea endured a disappointing 2025-26 Premier League campaign, finishing 10th and ending the season without a major trophy.

Their struggles were reflected by instability in the dugout, with three different managers taking charge over the course of the campaign.

Enzo Maresca began the season at Stamford Bridge before being replaced by the relatively inexperienced Liam Rosenior.

However, Rosenior’s spell lasted just over four months before he too was dismissed, leaving Calum McFarlane to oversee the remainder of the season in an interim capacity as the Blues limped to a mid-table finish.

There is, however, renewed optimism in west London following the appointment of Xabi Alonso.

The Spaniard arrives with an impressive managerial CV, having guided Bayer Leverkusen to an unbeaten domestic league and cup double in 2024 before taking charge of Real Madrid.

Although his spell in Spain was less successful than his time in Germany, Alonso has already established himself as one of Europe’s most highly regarded young coaches.

Chelsea have also enjoyed a productive summer transfer window. Morgan Rogers and Danny Welbeck headline the arrivals, while experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson adds leadership and dressing-room know-how.

A further five signings underline the club’s intent to refresh the squad, signalling the start of what many hope will be a new era at Stamford Bridge.

The big question is whether those changes will translate into immediate success. Sky Bet certainly believes Chelsea can challenge for a return to the Champions League, pricing them at 10/11 to finish in the top four.

The Blues are also 8/1 to win the Premier League, making them the fifth favourites in the outright market.

Finally, if you’re backing Chelsea to win multiple trophies this season, you can find the latest odds for that market below.
