Dominik Szoboszlai has claimed everybody is ‘cool’ at Liverpool and ‘nobody was angry’ after an on-pitch spat saw him having a perceived fall-out with team-mate Curtis Jones.
The pair clashed at Yankee Stadium last week after Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Wrexham in New York, with Kostas Tsimikas also involved in an incident believed to be sparked by Szoboszlai not passing the captain’s armband to Jones.
Jones was seen throwing a tantrum at Szoboszlai. Meanwhile Tsimikas, who instead got the captaincy, threw the armband on the floor in an incident that sent the online fanbase into meltdown.
But Szoboszlai has played down suggestions of a fall-out and said: ‘It was never a debate between us three. We just discussed something on the pitch. Actually, you guys (the media) make it very big.
‘But next time we will manage to do it in the changing room. No, nobody was angry at no one. It’s all cleared. We are cool, everybody.’
Szoboszlai also moved to clear up a slip of the tongue when he was listing players that would soon join up with the squad after post-World Cup holidays. When discussing Alexis Mac Allister, he said ‘if Macca comes back’.

Again, the fanbase leapt on it and deducted Mac Allister was leaving but Szoboszlai insisted: ‘That’s my English, guys.
‘It’s not “if”, it’s “when” he comes back. So now I make it clear. Can you post this as well? Because it’s not “if”. He’s coming back and he’s going to be part of the team as much as I know.’
Szoboszlai, meanwhile, said he ‘can’t wait’ for the new season to start and added he would be honoured to receive the vice-captaincy. The Hungary skipper and Alisson are where the smart money is, with the latter likely to leave next summer alongside current captain Virgil van Dijk.
‘I can’t wait (for the new campaign), honestly,’ said Szoboszlai. ‘I feel we are ready to go again and take motivation from last season. Because it was not the best what we should do. We didn’t end up there where we wanted to.
‘We have Ali, we have Joe Gomez (as vice-captaincy options)… obviously Ali is not on tour. Joe is injured. I was very proud to have (the captaincy on tour). And let’s see. It’s not my choice.
‘It’s not fixed. If you get offered the vice-captain in Liverpool, you’re going to take it. It would be a proud moment for me. But I respect everybody. So either way, whoever it’s going to be, we’re going to follow them.’
