Another vote of support has come for the massive boost Nigerian athletes are getting at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland through a huge intiitive tagged ‘instant cash reward’ that was introduced by the current leadership of National Sports Commission (NSC).
Sports247 reports that the intiiative, which has seen gold medalists get $10,000 immediately after winning their events, while $5,000 goes for silver medals and $3,000 for bronze, is part of the priority placed on athletes’ welfare by what has equally been identified as the NSC’s quality leadership.

The latest shower of accolades on the ‘instant cash reward’ policy comes from NSC director-general, Honourable Bukola Olopade’s special assistant for media, Kola Daniel, who also pointed out that several achievements have been recorded in Nigeria’s sports sector since President Bola Tinubu reinstated the Commission.
Daniel stated further, after watching some Nigerians pull off more remarkable performances in Glasgow, that the leadership style of the NSC’s current top shots has inspired confidence among the country’s athletes, creating a winning mindset and reinforcing their belief in achieving goals.
The dutiful sports writer, broadcaster and public relations expert went on to express optimism that the future of Nigerian sports has become brighter through giant strides being achieved under the present dispensation, with a firm verdict that ongoing reforms are laying a solid foundation for sustained success.
Daniel asserted, “The leadership of the National Sports Commission, under its chairman, Malam Shehu Dikko, and director-general, Honourable Bukola Olopade has prioritised athletes’ welfare.
“(This is seen) through initiatives such as the instant cash reward, which eensures medal-winning athletes receive their financial rewards immediately after reaching the podium, and the training grants policy.
“I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for redefining the nation’s sports sector through visionary leadership and support for the Commission’s programmes.
“I am also looking forward to Nigeria’s Super Falcons excelling at the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations, where they are gunning for a record-extending 11th African title.”
