The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has extended his goodwill and best wishes to Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, as they begin their campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Hon. Adeboye described the Super Falcons as one of Nigeria’s greatest sporting institutions, noting that their consistency, resilience, and winning mentality have made them a source of pride and inspiration to millions of Nigerians and aspiring female footballers across the country.

The Presidential aide expressed confidence in the team’s ability to once again conquer Africa, urging the players to approach every match with unity, discipline, courage, and the determination that has defined the Super Falcons over the years.
“The Super Falcons have, over the years, established themselves as the standard-bearers of women’s football in Africa. They carry with them not only the hopes of millions of Nigerians but also a rich legacy of excellence that has inspired generations of young girls to believe that greatness is possible through hard work, discipline, and dedication.”
Hon. Adeboye stated that the team’s pursuit of another continental title represents more than a quest for silverware, describing it as an opportunity to reinforce Nigeria’s leadership in African women’s football while inspiring the next generation of talents emerging from grassroots competitions across the country.
He emphasized that the achievements of the Super Falcons continue to validate the importance of sustained investment in grassroots sports development, particularly in creating opportunities for young girls to discover and nurture their talents.
“Every Super Falcons player was once a young girl with a dream. Their journey reminds us why we must continue to invest in grassroots sports, strengthen school sports programmes, and provide equal opportunities for girls to develop their talents. Today’s champions are products of yesterday’s grassroots initiatives.”
The SSA reaffirmed that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains committed to using sports as a vehicle for youth empowerment, national unity, social inclusion, and economic growth through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that his office is working to expand grassroots sports programmes across the country to ensure that more young Nigerians—especially girls—have access to quality coaching, competitions, and pathways to national and international success.
Hon. Adeboye called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to stand firmly behind the Super Falcons throughout the tournament, stressing that the support and encouragement of the nation can serve as an added source of motivation for the players.
“As our gallant Super Falcons step onto the pitch, let them know that an entire nation stands behind them. We believe in their quality, we believe in their experience, and we believe in their ability to once again make Nigeria proud. They have consistently shown that they possess the character and determination of true champions.”
The Presidential aide wished the team a successful tournament and expressed optimism that they would once again return home with the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy, further cementing Nigeria’s status as the undisputed powerhouse of women’s football in Africa.
