Nigeria’s men’s 100m record holder, Kanyinsola Ajayi will eventually enter the spotlight on Tuesday at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, as the USA-based athlete competes in the men’s 100m semi-finals, after drawing a bye that saw him skip all of Monday’s heats.
Sports247 reports that, Ajayi watched on Monday, as Favour Ashe and Adekalu Fakorede competed in the heats, but they will all hit the tracks on Tuesday, as Nigeria’s athletics contingent competes in track and field, with several medal hopefuls aiming for progress in their respective events.
Starting the day will be Edidiong Udo in the men’s 400 metres, where he will run from lane four in Heat 1, spurred on with a season’s best of 44.91 seconds and hoping to keep Nigeria’s hopes alive ahead of the evening session that will feature the men’s 100m semi-finals.
Ashe will set the pace going in Semi-final 1, where he will run from lane six with a season’s best of 9.93 seconds, followed by Ajayi in Semi-final 2 from lane four, with a season’s best to 9.84 seconds, while Semi-final 3 will have Fakorede in lane four, with a season’s best of 9.98 seconds.
