Warri Wolves Head Coach, Hassan Abdallah, says the Seasiders are undergoing a rebuilding process aimed at delivering a stronger performance in the forthcoming 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, which gets underway in August, Completesports.com reports.
The former Nigeria U-20 Flying Eagles assistant coach and ex-Heartland of Owerri head coach joined Warri Wolves after the Seasiders suffered a 3-0 defeat to Kun Khalifat at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, in a Matchday 34 fixture of the 2025/2026 NPFL season. He managed the club for only four games, helping them avoid relegation.

With the 2026/2027 season expected to kick off in August, Coach Abdallah appears to be racing against time as he continues rebuilding the squad to make the club competitive for the new campaign.
Abdallah Focused On Building a Competitive Warri Wolves Squad
Abdallah spoke at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, on Sunday after his side lost 1-0 to Rangers in a pre-season friendly.
“I think it was a very good match today. It was a good test for us. I think we played well but, all the same, I can say that we’re still rebuilding the team,” Abdallah said during an exclusive chat with Completesports.com.
“Most of the players who featured in today’s game are new players. I’m still trying to blend them together to ensure that they play as a team and understand one another.
“But there were lapses here and there. You should, of course, expect that because Rome, as they say, was never built in a day. It’s a gradual process, and I’m optimistic that we’ll be able to make amends and become much better before the season starts.”
Warri Wolves Coach Identifies Areas For Improvement
When asked, Abdallah admitted his team is still a work in progress, adding that the pre-season clash against the Coal City Flying Antelopes exposed some weaknesses, particularly in the final third.
“Exactly, you are right. We had problems in the final third because, in the first half, we created chances and were able to get behind their back line, but the goals wouldn’t come. I think this was partly because of the many substitutions we made in the second half when we replaced almost the entire starting XI so that all the 20 players we came with could have a feel of the game.

“There are some players we’ve seen who obviously wouldn’t make the team. There are also some whose situations we can improve technically and tactically.”
Abdallah Targets Strong 2026/2027 NPFL Campaign
Looking ahead to the new top-flight season, Abdallah disclosed that he is building a fresh Warri Wolves side capable of enjoying a successful campaign.
“We’re looking forward to a great 2026/2027 NPFL season. For me, I think it’s much easier building a team from the beginning, and I’ve already started working on the team’s physical fitness.
“Next, I’ll focus on the tactical side, combining the technical and tactical aspects to make it ‘techno-tactical’. So, if you ask me, I’ll say we’re okay and we’re good to go.”
