Former Super Eagles defender Juwon Oshaniwa has thrown his weight behind the reported contract extension of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, insisting the Franco-Malian deserves more time to complete his rebuilding project.
Oshaniwa believes Chelle has restored stability to the national team since taking charge and should be allowed to continue implementing his ideas.

“Eric Chelle has brought stability to the Super Eagles,” Oshaniwa said.
The former international noted that rebuilding a national team is a gradual process, urging Nigerians not to judge the coach too quickly.
According to him, continuity remains one of the most important ingredients for sustained success in international football.
“He deserves the opportunity to continue what he has started,” he added.
Oshaniwa also called on supporters to rally behind the coach, stressing that unity between the fans, players and technical crew will be vital as Nigeria begins preparations for future competitions.
“The fans should get behind him and support the project,” he stated.
The former left-back believes consistency on the bench will help the Super Eagles build a stronger identity and create a solid foundation ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and the qualification campaign for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Chelle is reportedly set to continue leading Nigeria as the Super Eagles look to bounce back from the disappointment of missing back-to-back FIFA World Cups and return to competing among Africa’s elite.
