Former Norway international Magnus Wolff Eikrem says he is “convinced” Erling Haaland will play for Real Madrid one day.
Haaland has established himself as one of the best players of his generation with both Manchester City and Norway.
The 26-year-old has scored an incredible 162 goals in 198 games since joining City from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in 2022.
He played a huge role in the Cityzens becoming just the second English team to win the treble in 2022-23, netting 52 times that season.
Haaland is also widely regarded as Norway’s greatest player, having fired them to the quarter-finals of this summer’s World Cup.
The striker scored both goals in his country’s famous last-16 victory over five-time winners Brazil in New Jersey.
However, in the lead up to that match, Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge, said “anyone would want to play for Madrid” when asked about speculation linking his son with a future switch to Real.
And now Eikrem, who played alongside Haaland at Norwegian side Molde between 2018 and 2019, believes a move will happen in the future.
In an interview with Spanish outlet Diario AS, current KFUM midfielder Eikrem – who represented Manchester United between 2009 and 2011, said: “I think it’s something that can happen perfectly.
“What’s more, I’m convinced it will happen one day. I won’t say completely sure, but I do see many possibilities.”
Real can take Haaland to another level – Eikrem
Eikrem believes joining Real would raise Haaland’s profile even further, with the La Liga heavyweights arguably the biggest club in the world.
He added: “Real Madrid’s power of attraction in the world is immense and although he is in a great club like City, I think that in Madrid he would reach a higher level.
“The best in the world play there and Erling is one of them. I think he would score a lot of goals, fit in well, like the fans and enjoy the game surrounded by so many stars as good as him.”

While it remains to be seen whether Haaland will one day play for Real, the attacker is contracted to City until 2034.
He is currently gearing up for his fifth season at City and his first under Enzo Maresca’s tutelage after the Italian succeeded Pep Guardiola as head coach.
City have so far signed Elliot Anderson, Mathys Detourbet, Jeremy Monga and Pierce Charles ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season.
Real meanwhile are working on a deal to sign Spain captain Rodri from City, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
