Leicester City have confirmed that defender Jannik Vestergaard has had his contract terminated with immediate effect.
Vestergaard departs the Foxes after five years at the club, having come to a mutual agreement to end his deal.

The Denmark international’s contract was set to last through until the summer of 2027, but it has now been cut a year short.
In total, he played 118 times for Leicester in all competitions across his spell, making 28 appearances in the Premier League.
He made 32 appearances for the club last season, as they were relegated from the Championship to League One.
It was their second straight drop and third relegation over the last four years, with Vestergaard present for all of them.
But his part in the Foxes’ recent misery has come to an abrupt end just three weeks before the 2026/27 campaign gets started.
The 33-year-old had not reported for pre-season training under new manager Russell Martin, playing no part in any friendlies so far.
Announcing his departure on Thursday, Leicester wrote in a statement: “We can confirm that a mutual agreement has been reached between Leicester City and Jannik Vestergaard for the termination of the player’s contract.
“The Denmark international leaves after almost five years at King Power Stadium, having joined from Southampton in August 2021.
“He made 118 appearances for us in all competitions and was part of the squad that won the Sky Bet Championship title in 2023/24.
“We wish Jannik well with the next step in his career.”

Business picking up
Vestergaard will now have three weeks to find a new club before the new EFL season begins at the start of August.
And Leicester are potentially going to have to look for a new centre-back ahead of their first match under Martin on August 8.
The Foxes take on Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup.
Their first game of the League One campaign then takes place on August 15, as they take on Midlands rivals Notts County.
Martin has already made additions to his squad, announcing their arrivals on the same days as Vestergaard left.
Ex-Ipswich star Conor Chaplin signed for free on a three-year deal after leaving the Tractor Boys at the end of his contract.

Meanwhile, former Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has also joined on a free transfer to bolster their shot-stopping options.
Striker Danny Ings is also expected to join the club imminently.
As for departures, Harry Winks left to join Italian side Cagliari on Wednesday, ending his three-year spell.
Teenage sensation Jeremy Monga has also signed for Manchester City in a record-breaking deal worth £12.5million.
Victor Kristiansen and Silko Thomas have also departed.
