Chelsea’s summer transfer window has really started to heat up in the last couple of weeks and the Blues have now reached an agreement over another deal
Tyrique George is on his way out of Chelsea on a permanent basis after the Blues agreed a deal with Everton on Saturday.
George is set to move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the very near future after Chelsea reached an agreement on a £24million total package – £18m up front with £6m in add-ons – for the winger, with the west Londoners also inserting a 15% sell-on clause. The 20-year-old wide man has also agreed personal terms with Everton after enjoying his time under David Moyes in the second half of last season.
The Cobham graduate only made one Premier League start under Moyes, but was used from the bench a further 10 times. Everton had an option to buy George for £25m but the Toffees did not want to pay such a fee up front and instead negotiated with Chelsea to split the payment.

George is set to become Chelsea’s second departure of the summer transfer window after Marc Cucurella – who moved to Real Madrid for £52m – became the first midway through last month. Xabi Alonso and the club’s sporting directors, who are working in tandem this summer in relation to the summer transfer window, will be hoping that number increases significantly between now and September 3 (deadline day).
Trevoh Chalobah looks likely to leave Chelsea at this point, as long as the Blues can reach an agreement over his departure. Como were the front-runners for the Cobham graduate’s signature but Inter Milan are said to be in front in the race now. Chelsea could let Chalobah leave for a figure between £30m and £35m.
Enzo Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge remains up in the air but at the time of writing, he looks more likely to stay given Real Madrid’s bombshell statement on Friday morning. Los Blancos, who expressed an interest in the Argentine midfielder earlier this summer, released an official statement saying they will not pursue a move for Chelsea’s vice-captain between now and the end of the window.
From Chelsea’s point of view, not much has changed. Stamford Bridge insiders are relaxed about the situation. The club’s stance is – and always has been – if their £120m asking price is met, then they will sell Fernandez but if not, they will be happy he is part of Alonso’s squad next season.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Granit Xhaka looks to be over. Sunderland are adamant the Switzerland international is not for sale, sources say, and Xhaka, despite expressing an interest in reuniting with Alonso, will not push for a move away from the Stadium of Light.
