Nigerian-born midfielder, Jamala Musiala returned to the surgeon’s table, after fitness issues limited his impact with Germany’s squad at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, where the former champions lost to Paraguay via penalties in the round of 32.
Sports247 reports that, in contrast with great expectations of a spark from Musiala during the Mundial, the Bayern Munich of Germany dazzler appeared plagued by memories of a broken ankle he suffered barely a year ago.

Speculation in that regard appears to have been buttressed by reports that the former Southampton and Chelsea of England youth team player went for a scheduled surgical procedure following Germany’s elimination.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder failed to make an impact at the World Cup, with his only goal contribution coming in a 7-1 win over Curacao, but his club have disclosed that he went for a ‘planned routine surgery’ following his return home from the World Cup.
The Bavarians issued a formal stament about the next step for Musiala, who was born to a Nigerian father and German mother on February 26th, 2003 in Stuttgart, Germany, with the Munich-based club affirming that he will be back in time for pre-season and their first competitive games of 2026/27.
“Jamal Musiala has undergone minor, routine surgery following his return from the World Cup. The procedure is part of the standard medical protocol following his serious injury last summer and had long been scheduled for the period after the tournament in North America.
“Thanks to the procedure, the attacker will be able to complete pre-season according to a clearly structured plan, ensuring he’ll be back in time for the first of FC Bayern’s competitive fixtures,” the German Bundesliga champions disclosed.
Sports247 reports further that Musiala, who was also eligible to play for Nigeria via his father, represented both England and Germany at youth international level, but announced on February 24th, 2021 that he had decided to represent his mother’s nation and country of birth at senior level.
He subsequently received his first call up to Germany’s senior team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and got his debut on March 25th, 2021 as a 79th minute substitute in a 3-0 win against Iceland.
On November 23rd, 2022, Musiala made his World Cup debut by starting against Japan, thereby becoming the first German teenager to feature in the Mundial since 1958 and fourth youngest overall – aged 19 years and 270 days.
