Nigerian lightweight boxer Tosin “Sojar Boy” Osaigbovo has officially accepted Ridwan “Scorpion” Oyekola’s challenge for a rematch after signing the contract for their highly anticipated second meeting.
The rematch is scheduled for August 30, 2026, and will be promoted by De Lad’s Boxing Promotions in what promises to be one of the biggest domestic boxing clashes of the year.

The rivalry between the two fighters dates back to December 2024, when Sojar Boy defeated Oyekola by unanimous decision in an eight-round National Lightweight Challenge bout at Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos. The judges scored the contest 78-73, 78-73 and 76-75 in favour of Sojar Boy.
However, the result sparked controversy, with Oyekola’s camp and several boxing enthusiasts insisting that “Scorpion” had done enough to win the fight. Since then, calls for a rematch have continued to grow.
Sojar Boy heads into the bout looking to bounce back from his unanimous decision defeat to Taiwo “Esepo” Agbaje in April 2026, a contest that saw him fall short in his bid to win the WBA Africa Lightweight title.
The renewed rivalry intensified in recent months through social media exchanges before both camps finally agreed to settle their differences in the ring.
With both fighters eager to prove a point, the August 30 showdown is expected to deliver another thrilling chapter in one of Nigerian boxing’s fiercest rivalries.
