Finland record league title winners HJK have announced the signing of former Golden Eaglets midfielder Qurib Adetola on a one-year contract.
The club confirmed the signing in a statement on their official website on Monday.
“HJK has signed an agreement with 18-year-old Nigerian player Qurib Adetola,” HJK wrote stated.
“The Nigerian youth national team player will join HJK from his home country Derby Football Academy. The agreement is until the end of 2027, including an option for the 2028 season. HJK will pay compensation for the transfer.
“Adetola is at his best in an attacking role in midfield or as a winger. The young midfielder, who possesses exceptional speed, has spent his entire academy career with the disciplined Derby team, and now he is making his first move to European football.
“The small but clever Adetola has been placed in the rink of HJK Klubi 04.
“Adetola arrives in the country exceptionally soon after turning 18, which is excellent timing. He will quickly enter European football. He is very skilled with the ball in small spaces, and he is also really hardworking and conscientious in defense.

“He shows a lot of potential when he learns to utilize his speed even better, says HJK’s sports director Petri Vuorinen .
“Adetola has started training with Klubi 04 in mid-June. He will be eligible to play in the next Ykkösliiga match against Jippo on July 11th.”
Adetola was a member of the Golden Eaglets squad that featured at the 2024 WAFU B U17 Championship in Accra, Ghana.
HJK are the most successful club in the Finnish topflight with a record 33 league titles.
Founded in 1907, HJK has spent most of its history in the top tier of Finnish football. The club’s home ground is the 10,770-seat Töölö Football Stadium, where they have played their home games since 2000.
