Borussia Dortmund of Germany midfielder, Felix Kalu Nmecha is set to reap from his personal efforts at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, as an offer from Manchester United of England is coming his way, Sports247 reports.
Although Newcastle United are also said to be in the hunt for the Nigerian-born battler, who scored a single goal during Germany’s group campaign, before they lost to Paraguay in the round of 32, Nmecha prefers a move to Manchester.

Dramatically, Nmecha previously featured for The Red Devils local rivals, Manchester City, and continues admiring them, but he now looks set for a deal at Old Trafford, where top shots of the former English champions have launched a bid for him.
A report by Tribal Football adds: “The 25-year-old German midfielder was thought to be Newcastle United’s preferred option should captain Bruno Guimaraes decide to join Anthony Gordon and leave the Magpies in this summer’s transfer window.
“However, the player has no interest in moving to Tyneside. It’s believed that Manchester is a destination he likes, with the only choice being between United and City. The Red Devils have already been in direct contact ahead of their rivals.”
The Athletic adds, “The Borussia Dortmund midfielder, is wanted this summer, with Manchester United among the interested parties. Dortmund sources said the club value 25-year-old Nmecha at around €120m (about £103m).”
Sports247 recalls that Nmecha previously played for Manchester City, with which he got his debut in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Burton Albion as a 67th minute replacement for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
On November 3, 2020, Nmecha provided an assist for João Cancelo as a substitute for Kevin De Bruyne on his UEFA Champions League debut for City and helped The Cityzens to a 3–0 home win over Olympiacos in the group stage.
He was, however, released by City at the end of his contract on June 30th, 2021, following which he moved to VfL Wolfsburg of Germany shortly after his brother, Lukas made the same move, but spent only two seasons at the club.
The 25-year-old battler, who was born in Hamburg, Germany, but first played as a youth international for England before switching allegiance to the country of his birth, played 50 competitive matches for Wolfsburg, including two UCL games.
Nmecha signed for Dortmund on July 3rd, 2023 and on June 14th, 2026 he scored Germany’s first goal of the ongoing World Cup to take 1–0 lead over Curaçao in an eventual 7-1 win, but could not save them from losing to Paraguay via penalties.
A new chapter is now bound to open for Felix Nmecha, the son of a Nigerian father and German mother, whose older brother, Lukas plays for Leeds United of England, where they first arrived with their parents in 2007.
