“Showtime Bowl has become one of the country’s major sporting events, and it’s encouraging to see how the league continues to grow and create opportunities for young athletes,” Akanni said.

A former Super Eagles defender and ex-Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Akanni remains one of Nigeria’s most respected football administrators and youth development advocates.

His attendance further reflects the increasing recognition Showtime Bowl is receiving within the Nigerian sporting community as the championship continues to raise the profile of flag football.

This year’s final promises to be historic as defending champions Abia Warriors face Lagos Knights in the Showtime Bowl for a remarkable third consecutive season.

The Warriors are chasing an unprecedented third straight championship title after defeating the Knights in each of the previous two finals, while the Lagos side will be determined to end that dominance and claim its first Showtime Bowl crown.

Beyond the battle for the championship, the event has evolved into a celebration of flag football in Nigeria, bringing together elite athletes, administrators, corporate partners, media personalities and fans.

“The continued support from respected sports personalities shows the progress flag football is making in Nigeria. Showtime Bowl is becoming a platform that inspires the next generation,” Akanni added.

With excitement building ahead of Sunday’s final, all eyes will be on Showtime Arena, where another chapter in Nigerian flag football history is set to be written.
