Heartland Queens of Owerri have received a solid assurance of total support from Imo State commissioner for sports, Honourable Obinna Onyeocha ahead of their July 11th clash with Nasarawa Queens of Lafia in this year’s Federation Cup final.

Sports247 reports that Onyeocha gave the assurance while hosting the team’s players, coaches and officials at a state reception in celebration of their 2-1 victory over Robo Queens of Lagos in the semi-finals, which he described as a historic achievement.
Onyeocha stated further that it is the first time a women’s club from the south-east geo-political zone would qualify for the final of a major Nigerian competition, then urged all Imo State indigenes and their neighbours to rally round the club.
He charged lovers of women’s football in Imo State and the entire south-east to troop out en mass in order to cheer ‘The Uzodimma Babes’ to victory during the final, which is scheduled to hold at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The commissioner spoke during a visit of the team, led by their technical adviser, Obi Ogbala, accompanied by members of the club’s management, who also gave assurances of their preparedness to lift the trophy in the Delta State capital.
Onyeocha promised them he will do everything to ensure that Imo State wins the cup for the first time in its history, while noting that it reflects the growing development of female football in Imo State.
Onyeocha added: “I congratulate Heartland Queens for this remarkable achievement. This is a proud moment for Imo State and the entire South-East.
“The team has created history by reaching the Federation Cup final. I call on all Imolites to give the team full support as they represent our state in Asaba. This achievement will inspire more young girls to embrace football and believe in their dreams.”
