Director-general of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade has declared that a welfare committee that was created during the week is meant to ensure victory for Nigeria at thistle year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2026) in Morocco.

Sports247 reports that Olopade pointed out that the seven-member committee is expected to look into issues concerning adequate daily upkeep and proper remuneration of Super Falcons’ players, while also ensuring they have a smooth build-up towards the competition.
He added that the committee, which is chaired by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) executive board member, Aisha Falode, with head of female department, Ruth David as secretary, was established to basically to boost the Falcons’ WAFCON 2026 campaign.
Olopade further pointed out that this would help the NFF to ensure that the team is not rocked by negative issues relating to players’ welfare, funding, payments of fees and other off-field concerns in the camp that could affect the team’s performance.
The NSC’s DG emphasised that the committee will support the Falcons before and during the forthcoming continental championship, ahead of which he disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expecting another conquest.
While also revealing that Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu is keen on seeing the Falcons win a record extending 11th WAFCON title, Olopade added that the Federal Government is fully committed to ensuring smooth preparations for the team.
Olopade submitted: “Mr President and the First Lady are personally committed to seeing the Falcons defend their title. Welfare is part of any team’s success, and this committee will ensure the players are fully supported throughout the tournament.”
Sports247 gathered further that this year’s WAFCON will run from July 26th to August 16th, with the Falcons drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi, who they will play first on July 28th at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
