Assistant coach of Nigeria’s Falconets, Mansur Abdullahi, says the technical crew has intensified preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, with detailed plans already in place to study the team’s opponents ahead of the tournament.
Nigeria will head to the competition carrying the hopes of a nation, and Abdullahi insists the coaching crew fully understands the expectations that come with wearing the green and white.

“We know what’s expected of us, and we’re doing everything possible to prepare the team for the World Cup,” Abdullahi said.
The assistant coach revealed that preparations extend beyond training sessions, with the technical crew also analysing opponents as they fine-tune their strategy for the tournament.
According to him, the players have responded positively to the demands placed on them as preparations gather momentum.
“We’re working hard to understand our opponents while ensuring our players are fully prepared for the challenge ahead,” he added.
Abdullahi acknowledged the rich history of the Falconets at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, pointing out that Nigeria has reached the final twice and remains one of Africa’s most successful teams in the competition.
The Falconets finished runners-up in 2010 and 2014, and the coach believes the current squad has the opportunity to create another memorable chapter.
“This team is not new to this stage. We’ve played in two World Cup finals before, and this is another opportunity to go one step further,” he stated.
The Falconets will continue their preparations in the coming weeks as they target a strong campaign in Poland and aim to become the first African nation to win the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
