Bruno Guimaraes could be convinced to leave Newcastle United by two Arsenal stars during Brazil’s World Cup campaign
Arsenal could turn to Gabriels Magalhaes and Martinelli to help seal the transfer of Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilian trio are all currently at the World Cup with the Newcastle United man and Gunners defender starters under Carlo Ancelotti while Martinelli has appeared as a substitute twice.
Despite a challenging domestic campaign, with injury problems plaguing him, Guimaraes has been excellent in the United States with three assists during Brazil’s group-stage campaign.
Following his contributions further forward, it is no surprise that Arsenal have reignited their interest with The Daily Mail reporting that Newcastle are braced for an approach from Mikel Arteta’s side following talks with the players’ camp.
Fresh off winning the title and reaching a Champions League final, Guimaraes may not need too much convincing by Gabriel and Martinelli to join but the pair are likely to have at least discussed their historic season in Brazil camp.

Newcastle’s own challenging campaign could also see the 28-year-old more open to an Emirates Stadium switch as they failed to finish in the top half – let alone in a European qualification spot.
However, Guimaraes, who has two years left on his contract and is valued at £60million, was candid about Newcastle’s fall from fifth to 12th place back in March. He said: “We have seen it last year when we played in the Champions League, we lost some players for injury and then it was busy for us.
“I think we can improve our level because next year, our season will have one more competition. We need to work hard now, have an amazing holiday. We need to improve of course but we’re very, very happy.”
“I think for next season, we are going to need more players to be honest with you, because I think the squad is a little bit short.”
Guimaraes’ future could depend on Tottenham’s pursuit of Sandro Tonali with Newcastle having already rebuffed two offers for the Italian from Arsenal’s bitter rivals.
Selling Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £69m has put Newcastle in a position to turn down sizeable offers for their prized assets with a triple-figure asking price set for Tonali.
The latter is not out in the United States due to Italy failing to qualify and thus his future is likely to be resolved more quickly.
As for Guimaraes and the Arsenal duo, Brazil have qualified for the knockout stages as Group C winners which means they will face Group F runners-up.
