Exclusive: Arsenal in contact with Cristian Romero
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is in contact with the representatives of Cristian Romero and Ezri Konsa, FootballTransfers has been told.
Romero, 28, has been heavily linked with a Tottenham Hotspur exit in recent weeks and La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are both keeping tabs on his situation, with the former in particular keen to sign him ahead of the new campaign.
Despite this, we have been told that Romero is open to crossing the north London divide in order to complete a move to Arsenal this summer, although Spurs are understandably extremely reluctant to strengthen their rivals and a transfer would rely on the Argentina defender explicitly informing the club of his desire to join Arteta’s side.
Meanwhile, Konsa has been on Arsenal’s radar for several months as a result of his impressive form for Aston Villa. It has been reported that an opening bid has been rejected by Villa, but Arsenal are ready to return to the negotiating table with a fresh offer.
FootballTransfers has been told that Berta is in strong contact with the representatives of both Romero and Konsa as Arsenal look to ramp up their pursuit of a new centre-back following the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. However, a deal for either player has not yet been finalised.
Man Utd interested in Louis Page
Manchester United are in talks with Leicester City over a deal to sign teenage sensation Louis Page, according BBC Sport.
The Red Devils are hoping to beat Arsenal and Aston Villa to the 18-year-old’s signature, with negotiations currently ongoing, although a deal has not yet been finalised with Leicester.
Page was named the EFL Apprentice of the Year last season and he has made 21 first-team appearances for Leicester to date, including a cameo during their 1-0 win over Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup first round on Saturday.
Adam Wharton latest
Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton remains a “priority” transfer target for Chelsea, as per CaughtOffside.
The Englishman has been on Chelsea’s radar for several months and he remains a key option ahead of the new season, although Palace’s asking price of €100 million is likely to be a major stumbling block.
Man Utd are also actively monitoring Wharton’s situation ahead of a potential bid, while Real Madrid are keen too, but they are currently focused on alternative targets.
Filip Jorgensen agreement
Strasbourg have reached a full agreement to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen on a season-long loan deal.
The 24-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2024, has been in talks to join Strasbourg for several weeks and an agreement has now been struck for him to move to the Ligue 1 club for the duration of the 2026-27 campaign, as per Fabrizio Romano.
He posted on X: “Filip Jorgensen loan move from Chelsea to RC Strasbourg, finally set to be signed after documents completed today.
“Straight loan, no buy option clause. All done as Chelsea gave green light to proceed in the morning. Here we go, now confirmed.”
Jorgensen will replace Mike Penders as Strasbourg’s new first-choice goalkeeper this season, after the Belgian shot-stopper returned to Chelsea following a hugely successful loan spell last campaign.
Marcus Rashford to stay at Man Utd
Man Utd have signalled their intent to keep hold of Marcus Rashford this summer by handing him the No.14 shirt number ahead of the new season, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The England forward has been heavily linked with an exit before Deadline Day, after spending last season on loan at Barcelona, but he is currently set to stay at Old Trafford instead.
It’s reported that Rashford is expected to remain at Man Utd for the season unless a major offer arrives from a top European club.
